Born and bred in Boston, I started out as a photographer in the 1980’s primarily shooting musicians and bands in the local Boston music scene. Over time, as my friends and family started having kids, I found my photographic interests gravitating more toward portraits; and babies and kids in particular. During these sessions, parents would inevitably ask if I could take “just a few photos” of themselves for their LinkedIn and other social media sites. I was told I made these “dreaded” photos painless and “actually lots of fun.”
I get it - having photos taken is right up there with a trip to the dentist, or public speaking, for many people. To remind myself of what it’s like, I occasionally put myself on the receiving end of the lens. By doing so, I am reminded what I need to do to keep these sessions upbeat, fun and, best of all, painless!
